My landscape paintings are rooted in Place. Everything I put on paper grows from an emotional connection to the Suffolk landscape and experiences within it. All landscape is evolving strata. Suffolk’s ancient past is evident everywhere: the shards of chalk and flint (markers of deep time), the medieval margins of enclosed meadows and large open fields of modern agriculture. I am deeply influenced by a sense of Place and my place within it.
